Kate’s Journey

Kate is an experienced leader, mediator, coach and CEO who understands the struggles of career decisions and burn out, and the power of conscious leadership, wellbeing and authenticity. After a decade of practicing law, Kate recognized she needed to make a change. For the past 12 years she has been coaching others as they explore interests, uncover strengths, and consider career and life changes.

She is a Lumia Coach, has a certificate in the Science of Wellbeing and Emotional Intelligence from Yale, and is certified in the mind-body connection. She is also a certified mediator, master collaborator and is certified in Strategic Doing. As a natural connector, Kate is the co-founder of Her Experience, a revolutionary retreat for women. She is also a co-host of the Podcast TendHER Wild.

Kate graduated from the University of Iowa Law School in 1997 and worked as an attorney doing high conflict divorce work until 2005. She has been an adjunct faculty member at Kirkwood Community College and the University of Iowa College of Law.  Kate served as the Development Director for United Action for Youth and as Director of Community Relations for the Iowa City Community School District. Most recently Kate served as CEO of Iowa City Area Development Group, a non-profit economic development organization.  Kate is skilled as a public speaker and as a change agent for businesses, communities and individuals.

Kate has served on a number of boards. She received an ISPRA Communication award in 2013 and was awarded the Corridor Business Journal Forty Under 40 in 2011. Additionally, she received an Ovation award from the Iowa Women’s Foundation in 2020.

As a working wife, mother, and dog mom, Kate understands the challenges it takes follow your highest path.
